Using Wordpress For SEO
Written by PLRMan on April 30, 2009 – 12:46 pm -You can't beat Wordpress for its SEO features. Being so much easier to maintain and update than traditional HTML pages, it allows you to rapidly make site wide changes to your SEO strategy in order to maximize your rankings in the search engines.
Firstly, you need to ensure you have set your permalinks correctly. this is best done right at the start, during your Wordpress installation.
The default setting in Wordpress is pretty useless (?p=xxxx where xxxx is a number relating to the post) for SEO.
This must be changed to one of the options that includes the post title in it.You can help your search engine rankings by ensuring that each post title contains your targeted keywords.
On top of this there are free wordpress plugins that you can use to set your meta tags (i.e. meta keywords and description) for each post.
Despite what you will hear, these are still very important for your search engine rankings and if you can set them for each individual page, it will help you in the search engines.
On top of this, using yet more plugins you can notify Google, Yahoo, Ask and other websites about your updates. This will send the search engine spiders swarning to your website.
A good Wordpress Tutorial will tell you all about how to do this and more, and the Wordpress Demystified program is the best that I have found. It goes in depth into SEO and optimizing your blog for maximum search engine rankings.
With a little bit of work you can quickly and easily set up your Wordpress blog and optimize it for the search engines. You can find many different plugins design to help you improve your ranking in the search engines. Then, of course, all you need to do is some off-page SEO and you will find yourself rising up the search engine rankings.
But if you haven't done all of the on-page search engine optimization then you will find yourself struggling to beat the competition.A well optimized Wordpress blog can easily hit the top of the search engines.
“How the hell do you keep all your blogs fed with fresh content?”
That’s the question I get asked most of all. The answer is I don’t, Syndicate Kahuna feeds them for me with on topic, unique posts and it doesn’t cost me a dime for the content!
If you use blogs (if you don’t you should be) as part of your SEO website campaigns, you need to check out this FREE service. Click here and put your blogs on auto pilot.
