Six weeks and beyond- my first six weeks in SEO
Written by PLRMan on April 7, 2009 – 8:40 pm -When i entered the world of SEO i was told this was to be a ’steep learning curve’, and at times it has been, but other times its general common sense dictating what to do.
I’d gone back to college in early June last year to do computer marketing, passed in November and landed a job as a junior seo in February. ‘College prepares you for nothing’ is the term that certainly springs to mind, as SEO isnt as easy as college made out, but it certainly isnt much. I started out working on AMA articles, which holds appeal to me, because they can be interesting even on the most boring subject -its just finding an angle about a subject that makes it interesting and taking that approach with it. I seem to be turning out the articles at a good pace, and the content isnt too bad either. Ama takes alittle while to see some results, but they do come through and deliver the results.
AMA isnt the only tool in the shed to be used. There is also ‘do follow’ linking -or blog commenting. If you have something to contribute to the article it works, otherwise you just come across as a ’spammer’, but at the same time dont over do the comment.
Linkbait is another interesting one, just what qualifies as good link bait? To get your linkbait to go ‘viral’ requires us to think outside the box- conventional ideas arent going to cut it here. Jokes, music, games, something random that will get people’s attention will work here.
What has been the part of the job i have had trouble getting to grips with so far? Getting past the jargon mostly -aload of technical terms that are being thrown out there, and constantly re-fining the keywords can be slightly tedious -but necessary. I realise i havent given a full SEO review here and have just briefly touched on it -but then im on a path where im still learning ‘the trade’. After six weeks im not going to be brilliant at my job, no-one will be, but i can see my knowledge growing and what im applying starting to work out.
“How the hell do you keep all your blogs fed with fresh content?”
That’s the question I get asked most of all. The answer is I don’t, Syndicate Kahuna feeds them for me with on topic, unique posts and it doesn’t cost me a dime for the content!
If you use blogs (if you don’t you should be) as part of your SEO website campaigns, you need to check out this FREE service. Click here and put your blogs on auto pilot.
