A good majority of people are on the internet nowadays. Today almost every company has an online presence, selling music, insurance, tvs, clothing etc.
But how do we find what were looking for if we do have a specific website in mind? We use the search engines to get our results, but usually we’ll only check the first few pages then move on, so getting your business to page one important to your business. But how do you get your business to page one on Google? SEO comes into play at this point.
SEO means ’search engine optimisation’, which is when a site is tweaked to become ’search engine friendly’, which in turn helps it gain a higher position on search engines, allowing more people to see it. So how does this happen? Search engines such as Google work on the ‘key words’ that you type into them to help you find what your looking for. Now knowing what keyphrases your customers are most likely to type in is essential, as you can optimise the site to include those phrases. The trick is not to over use the phrase, but not to under use it either. Have as many keywords as you want, but have a select number to really focus on, usually the ones that get typed into a search engine the most. The keywords can be changed on different pages to, allowing product pages to appear for certain keyphrases on a search engine. Search engines take your keyword data from robots know as spiders, who view the site pages and take its data from there.
So summing up, a good SEO can help generate more traffic to your site, which can lead to more customers and sales for your business.
