5 SEO Steps For Higher Rankings
Written by PLRMan on February 19, 2009 – 7:39 pm -When you ask the Average Joe, Search Engine Optimization is is shrouded in smoke and mirrors. As a Guaranteed Dallas SEO, I believe part of this misunderstanding is because of all the snake oil flogged by self described SEO Guru’s. For some, this is because they don’t have any idea what they’re talking about while others do it to keep their Clients in the dark about what they really do. SE Optimization isn’t brain surgery peeps. It’s nothing more than systematically building and optimizing a website the same way over and over to achieve high rankings.
To set the foundation for your website, you should make sure that the main keywords are used in the domain name if you can arrange it. When all things are equal, a site with keywords in the address will outrank a website without the keywords included in the URL.
Next, the keyword or keyword phrase should be included in the Website’s Title. What this does is help search engines like MSN come to a conclusion as to what the subject of your Website is.
Keywords should also be placed in the Title of each article on your Website, or at the bare minimum, the Title of the page should contain your some keywords. This too helps the search engines come to a conclusion as to what the page is about, what words to rank it for and how relevant it is. Also, the page Title should also be used in your H1 tag. Search engines give a great deal of value to the H1 tag and it’s important that your Page Title’s be inside H1 tags. If you’re using a web design company company, make certain they know how to do this one little thing.
If you have that done, it’s crucial that the keywords you want to rank for show up within the page itself. You should use them at least once in the first paragraph and at least once in the last paragraph. A few more times between the first and last paragraph can’t hurt but don’t over do it, whatever you do, make certain to use them in the first part of the page and again at the end.
Last up, you’ll soon discover that the most important part of SEO actually takes place off the page. In fact, it takes place off the site altogether. In my opinion, the most important thing in in getting a higher ranking in Google is backlinks going back to your page on your Website. And it’s not enough to just get backlinks, these backlinks need to have your keywords as the Anchor text of the links back to your site.
How important are links back to your site? Well, I can rank a website that doesn’t have the keywords in the domain, one that doesn’t have keywords in the Website Title, Page Title and in the Content (although it’s much, much harder to do), but without anchored backlinks leading back to your site, {it’s nearly impossible} to to get higher rankings in the search engines for any search phrases that are the least bit in demand.
“How the hell do you keep all your blogs fed with fresh content?”
That’s the question I get asked most of all. The answer is I don’t, Syndicate Kahuna feeds them for me with on topic, unique posts and it doesn’t cost me a dime for the content!
