3 Ways to Optimize Website Content For Search Engine Ranking
Written by PLRMan on February 26, 2009 – 8:35 pm -Effective internet marketers know that you not only need a site, but one that ranks well. This allows for more exposure, traffic, and sales.
This article presents 3 big tips for optimizing website content for ranking in the search engines.
1. Unique Content – A lot of people are putting sites out there that are basically clone sites.Search engines are identifying these sites to rank them lower. The search engines want you to give value to the web, not just clutter it up.You want a site that provides valuable, unique content.
Think about it like this: If you’re choosing between 100 sites that look the same and the one site that is different and unique, which one are you going to choose? The one that sticks out is going to get a better ranking.Take some time to think through the design of your site. This may take more time, but it will prove to be more profitable in the end.
2.Good Keywords - The main thing about internet and article marketing is that it’s all about the keywords.A site without the the right keywords won’t rank well.So where you do you look? There are many free keyword tools, including one by Google.
There are also many pay sites that can tell you how popular a keyword is.You want keywords with high monthly searches, but low competitors. Keywords should get 200+ monthly searches, but have 10,000 or less competitors.A good number to find is about 20-30.
3.Website Structure - So you have your keywords. Now what? Well, search engines use something called “spiders” that visit your site and take information from it.You need to make it easy for the spider to extract relevant information from your site.
You can do this by using a keyword rich title.Use one of your best keywords in the title. If you want to use more than one, separate them using “|”.You should limit it to 2-3 keywords.Choose the best keywords and use those for the title of your site.
You can also use meta and robots tags.Meta tags are where you can put relevant keywords to your site. Put the meta tags in the header of your site.Don’t pick too many, though, because you don’t want the search engines to think you are keyword stuffing.
The robots tag basically gives permission to the search engine spiders to search your site. Just use “meta name=”robots” content=”all”, and the spiders will spider you site.
